In 1974, a company that has become one of the world's leading industrial giants was born in Taiwan. Hon Hai Technology Group, also known as Foxconn, of which Foxconn Czech Republic is a part, celebrates its 50th birthday in February!
The company was founded in 1974 by Taiwanese entrepreneur Terry Gou. At that time, it started as a small company specializing in the production of electronic components. Over time, however, it grew to gigantic proportions and became one of the world's largest electronics manufacturers.
Global expansion
Since its establishment, Hon Hai Technology Group has built an extensive network of manufacturing and research centers around the world, including China, India, Japan, Vietnam, Malaysia, Mexico, the US and more. In 2000, the Czech Republic added to this list when a plant was opened first in Pardubice and a few years later in Kutná Hora. On a global level, the company has become a key partner for many technology leaders and has become an indispensable player in the electronics industry.
Today, the company has over 150 subsidiaries and branches in more than 20 countries worldwide, and has become one of the worlds largest private employers with offices on almost every continent. Thanks to its focus on research and development, it holds more than 54,000 patents, boasting numerous international awards and recognitions. It was ranked 20th on the Fortune Global 500 in 2022 and 25th on the Forbes magazine's 2019 list of the 100 Best Digital Companies in the World. In addition, it ranked No. 1 in Taiwan in Forbes magazine's World's Best Employers 2021. It is also the only Taiwanese private company to be awarded in the Clarivate Top 100 Global Innovators for 6 consecutive years (2018 to 2023).
