On Sunday, 13 September, the traditional Libor’s Run will be held, newly joined by the Edu RUN for students and teachers, as well as the Dog RUN designed for dog owners. All proceeds from the event will go to support Dan Kužel, a long-time former Foxconn employee battling a severe spinal cord disease.
The event kicks off at 9:00 AM, with the start of all races scheduled for 9:30 AM at the parking lot of the Foxconn Kutná Hora manufacturing site (Karlov 245). The finish line and all facilities – including refreshments and supporting activities such as a bouncy castle and football darts – will also be located there.
Libor’s Run
The traditional Libor’s Run, established in memory of late colleague Libor Záhořík to support someone in need each year, will offer two route options: a 4.5 km route for advanced runners and a 1.2 km barrier-free route suitable for recreational runners, children, prams, and participants with disabilities. "Although we will announce the top three fastest runners, the goal isn't breaking records, but enjoying movement together and supporting a good cause," says Radka Svobodová, Compliance, PR and Communications Manager at Foxconn.
Dog RUN and Edu RUN
This year, two new races join Libor’s Run:
- Edu RUN, held in cooperation with the Secondary Technical School (SPŠ) Kutná Hora, tailored specifically for students and teachers from Kutná Hora schools.
- Dog RUN, open to all dog owners and canicross enthusiasts.
Both races share the same routes as Libor’s Run, opening up opportunities for wider participation. "We want this year's edition to be even more open and accessible to the general public. That’s why we decided to expand the race categories so that everyone can find their fit," explains Daniel Pavlis, PR and Communications Supervisor at Foxconn.
Every runner – regardless of the chosen race – can look forward to a functional sports T-shirt, a well-deserved commemorative medal, and light refreshments at the finish line. Most importantly, they will be contributing to a meaningful cause.
Running for Colleague Dan
The core mission of the event remains charitable aid. While last year's contributions supported the treatment of two-year-old Isabellka, this year's entry fees will be dedicated to Dan Kužel, a long-time former Foxconn employee.
Dan has been bravely fighting a series of severe illnesses since 2014. In 2023, he was diagnosed with spinal syringomyelia, a progressive condition that is gradually confining him to a wheelchair. Yet Dan remains a passionate athlete at heart – despite severe health limitations, he actively plays parafloorball for Tatran Střešovice.
The funds raised will be used by his family to purchase essential compensatory aids to facilitate his movement around the house and help him maintain maximum independence. "We are delighted that together we can ease Dan and his family's challenging life situation and demonstrate the strength of our community," adds Radka Svobodová.
