Nine days full of sporting experiences and countless children’s smiles as they received their commemorative medals and certificates. This and much more was offered by this year’s Sports Park in Pardubice. An integral part of the event was also the charity run Foxconn Run, which this year was held in support of 14-year-old Matěj, who suffers from autism. It was a record-breaking year not only in terms of the number of runners, but also in the total amount raised – an impressive 80,000 CZK!
This year’s Sports Park Pardubice was officially opened on 1 August and culminated on Sunday, 10 August. The Na Špici Park welcomed thousands of visitors and featured around seventy sports clubs. The unique atmosphere of this special Pardubice event attracted both families and individuals. The sports venues, where visitors could take part with game cards, saw a large number of young participants – with the majority being children aged six to thirteen, and the rest under six years old.

An integral part of the Sports Park was also the charity run Foxconn Run, which took place on Wednesday, 6 August. Last year, the run saw a record-breaking 450 participants, but this year the record was pushed even further – to 470 runners. The event also welcomed players from the local football, basketball and ice hockey clubs. Before the start, Radka Svobodová, Compliance, PR and Communication Manager at Foxconn Czech Republic, presented Gabriela Hůlová with a cheque for 50,000 CZK on behalf of her son. The family will use the funds for medical equipment. The BK KVIS Pardubice basketball team joined Foxconn by donating a cheque for 20,000 CZK, while the players themselves collected another 5,000 CZK on the spot. The final contribution came from a friendly wager made by Martin Vencl, Head of the PR team at Foxconn Czech Republic, with players from the local hockey, basketball and football clubs, resulting in a further 5,000 CZK donation. “I bet them at the start that if I managed to beat at least one of them, they would add a few more crowns from their own pockets. We accidentally set off on the five-kilometre track instead of the originally planned one-kilometre course. I took advantage of a bit of confusion and the players’ good hearts – and I beat them,” Martin Vencl explains with a smile.
The Foxconn Zone once again proved to be a popular destination, offering relaxation alongside fun and sporting activities. Children competed for prizes, and Foxconn employees enjoyed refreshing ice lollies. “One of the favourites was Photospin, which allowed visitors to take home an original souvenir video,” adds Radka Svobodová. Not only in the Foxconn Zone but throughout the park, a fantastic atmosphere prevailed, thanks in part to Foxconn’s friendly mascot, Chip, who caught the attention of both young and older visitors.
